G28 retracts too fast

My Rambo 1.3 bricked so I replaced it with a 1.4. I figured this would be a good time to update the firmware. I didn’t save my eeprom file because I figured my old config.h file had them. Now I’m having a problem with the G28 command. I use a precision piezo for probing. After homing x and y it homes z slowly but once it reverses it raises very fast. So fast that it trips a fatal error;
Homing failed! Printer stopped and heaters disabled due to this error. Fix error and restart with M999. 
I can’t find any inputs that allow modification of the G28 code.
