Limit Switches and homing switches

I built a 3d printer and fitted one switch either side in max and min positions in the X and Y axis.
the idea was to use two of them as reference (homing) and at the same time having over-travel protection in max and minimum in each axis but seems that this is not possible.  By over-travel, I mean like a cnc machine which inhibits the axis from moving beyond the travel limits.

    Sure this is possible. Just make sure ALWAYS_CHECK_ENDSTOPS is true or end stops are only used during homing. Also disable software end stops in that case. But should happen automatically in config tool.
