Melzi 2.0.5 Control Board and a TronXY 3X

To All:
I just put together a TronXY 3X 3D printer that had a Melzi V2.0.5 controller board. The repetier-Host software would address all the stepper motors axes - X, Y, Z but not the extruder motor. I changed the extruder connection to the X axis and the motor worked. Is there something wrong in the Repetier_Host software that would stop it from communicating with the extruder motor? The version I am running is V2.1.3. Thank you

Did you heat the nozzle, the extruder motor is prevented from moving (by firmware) until the nozzle temp is about 150 C
