Object won't lay flat

I looked but could not find this question asked before, sorry if it has been.  I am trying to get an object to print with a different orientation so it will print better.  I click on the "lay flat" button, but instead of laying flat, the preview shows the object tilted at about a 45 degree angle which will not work, how can I get it to lay totally flat on the bed for printing?

Lay flat works not alway as you think. It searches the next possible solution to find 3 contact points. This also can be only a small triangle. so you need to preposition it close to what you want and then hit th ebutton.

Sometimes it works when you hit the "lay flat" button once again...
