Jam Sensor

Hello, I can not configure the jam sensor, the sensor design consists of an optical end and an encoder disk (45 lines).
Encoder driver lv8729 (128 micro step)

There are a number of questions:
1) Is there enough 45 lines of the encoder? (is it necessary to reduce or increase the number of lines?)
2) Is this jam sensor design suitable?

In the photo there are 90 lines of the encoder

3) How is the "JAM_MIN_STEPS" parameter selected?
(JAM_MIN_STEPS should be greater than the minimum value of "Jam signal steps" from the console, or less?)
4) Command m602 S1 P1 does not output data to the console ...

  • The design has a big flaw as it seems. In general it is ok, but form time to time I see

    if that was not a test it is not consistent enough. You better make a straight line for the filament and add a spring powered roll that presses against the wheel. You really need a quite consistent signal distance. +/- 10-20% is ok if your trigger limit is higher.

    JAM_MIN_STEPS is to prevent fast on/off from imprecision when you are on the edge between on/off. So set this to a value that you know the signal has surely changed. If you see steps in debug < JAM_MIN_STEPS than the limit is too low, but I do not see that so should be fine.

    S1 will disable jam control, so why should it write anything then?
