extruder temp shows "def"

in General
I get "def" message in Extruder temp field on Reprap Discount LCD.
The first line upper left corner. Is it Thermistor Value of 0 or near Infinit.
What exactly that indicates

    You have no thermistor connected or configured it to a different pin then connected or the thermistor is defect/cable broken/shorted.
