MPX3 board + DMS DP5 printer

Hi, I use MPX3 board and have this issues:
- after using dev version and choosing MPX board, heatbed do not work. When I switch back to 0.9.2.9 it works
- after autoleveling, which works perfect, I cannot print, as head is on new level, cca 3mm above set autolevel (any fw version). Setting slicer or firmware Z correction does not work.

  • Thanks. I found a mistake by copying code from marlin from that board it did not adjust to correct naming scheme, Please try the updated version for heaters.

    Regarding autolevel you z probe height seems to be off 3mm resulting in wrong height calculation.

    Hi,
    I used set it up this way - go manually down to cca 0.1 (thin paper), then trigger the probe and tighten probe screws. Then tune up Z-probe height value until the Z is OK (gap 0.1 mm). It worked with old printer, now prints cca 3mm above bed.

    When I use the repetier described method, the extruder push the bed little down when homing Z. But it prints correctly - unfortunately only first layer, then it "hops" another cca 3mm above 1st layer and print is bad.

    I use slic3r, no Z offset.

    This is my second printer, the first used  MKS Base V1.5 board, the same config.h, no problems. 
    MPX.3 seems to behave different way...

  • Your calibration is most likely missing correctness or is incomplete. When you are at 0.1mm nozzle distance the probe should already have triggered. You need to do it the other way around. Go down until it triggers and get z position. Then go down till nozzl eis on bed and note z again. The difference is z probe height which you need to use.

    So this method gives bad results - it is the same as it was - it prints cca 3mm above bed from the beginning... probably I have bad setup somewhere, I am desperate how to find... Do you think I could have bad steppers setup?

  • Do you have ALWAYS_CHECK_ENDSTOPS 0 ? If you have inductive/ir probe it might prevent coming down if using z hop and maybe some other cases.

    Also do you z max homing or have z probe = z min pin?

  • You should first test G32 and see if after that G1 Z0 is at z=0. Correct z probe height by difference and try again. Make sure bed coating is set to 0. Then if G32 works try homing z. That should then have correct height. Best try with dev version, which has several fixes regarding z probe = zmin.

  • It works perfectly, but then, after Z homing, ext0 goes up several milimetres and M114 reports Z = 0 (but it is in fact several milimetres up... thus, it prints in this distance above the bed.

  • You have the very special case of max and min z endstop. That seems confusing for the firmware as it takes routines meant for z max homing like computing the z length from distance to top, while neglecting the special problems in that case since #define MOVE_Z_WHEN_HOMED 0 is not good for z max homing but required for z min homing.

    Not sure if it comes from this but it is most likely that there is a connection.

    So please try deactivating z max endstop by setting hardware endstop false.

    Alternatively set homing direction 1 for z and #define MOVE_Z_WHEN_HOMED 2 and z min hardware endstop false.

    See if any of these combinations would work correctly, then we can start finding the firmware code adding the error. Thes eboth cases are used by many users so known to be working and if they work we know settings are correct and any error coming after enabling second endstop is in firmware code.

  • No one is max homing and z probing and case 2 is min homing with z probe and z probing without z max endstop.

    The problem as said might appear from having min and max endstops the same time with min endstop being a z probe in reality.

  • I changed Z_PROBE_ON_HIGH 0 (was 1), G32 OK, but prints still high - its lower, but not on Z :-(
  • If you say G32 ok includes that z height after probing? If not z probe height is wrong and that will always lead to wrong z when homing.

    it seems to give different data.
  • Data needs context to understand as I do not see what you have in reality.

    1. G32 is it at bottom after G1 Z0?
    2. G32 after print is useless as it removes old z. Better etst is test the important part

    what distance do you have then? That is the only important part.

    Also make sure ALWAYS_CHECK_ENDSTOPS 0 so z probe can hot prevent G1 from moving down.
  • G32, G1 Z0 is Z0 = m114 - 0.00

    Print - + cca 2.3 mm, but m114 says z 0.00

    Printer heats, but when heat is OK, go downs to "Z0" which is not real Z0... (+ 2,...mm).

    Interesting is, that in the past, with using the recommended Z calibration, once the first layer was OK - but the other were +2.3 mm... then all the time the Z0 is Z0 + 2.3 mm
