Host communicating mystery

Here is a strange situation. I have 2 Rambo boards, 1 Chinese and the other from the USA. I have 2 computers 1 is Windows XP and the other Windows 10, Using Arduino IDE version 1.69 on both. I can upload firmware to both boards from both computers with no problems at Baud rate of 115200 on COM2. But when I try to connect to the Repetier Host there is no communication with either of the boards they just won't connect! at all!  I have set the Host Baud and COMs correctly.
Is there something in the firmware that could be shutting down the serial communication, or something on the boards? is this a known problem and has anyone else had this situation?

Please offer some solutions before I throw both boards in the bin and get on with the rest of my life.

Thanks

  • If using repetier firmware, baudrate is the one in eeprom so the first one you uploaded and that may be different.

Try in arduino ide the serial monitor. It has 115200 baud and if you see something there, host should also work.
