What printers are compatible with Repetier Server?

I'm new to Repetier and can't seem to find an answer to this despite my efforts.

Is Repetier Server only compatible with printers running Repetier firmware? Which I assume would limit it to RAMPS-based printers?

Or is it compatible with printers based on other firmwares as well?

    Both are compatible with typical reprap firmwares. So Repetier-Firmware, Marlin, Smoothieware were tested and others should be compatible and work if you select Marlin. Server has also a firmwares subdirectory with firmware definition files where you could copy e.g. marlin and modify parts for other firmwares as long as it talks ascii gcode in similar style.
