how to set z_probe_gap?

I have a delta with Repetier firmware 0.92.9

I am going through the steps to activate z probing. I don't understand how to determine the value for z_probe_gap.

The documentation states that you start with a guessed bed height which has been set in firmware. What variable is this?

z length is the printer height used. Autoleveling adjust this variable.
