Need help uploading firmware

Let me start off by saying I am a beginner (and I mean it). I have a Melzi board and I am currently using Arduino v.1.5.5-r2 (because the repetier firmware I am using is a older version thats not compatible with the newer Arduino.ide). When I open up boards in Arduino.ide, I don't see an option for Melzi, is there any way I can connect to my board?

As far as I know you need to install extra board definitions for melzi to arduino ide, since it is not compatible with one of the provided boards. Most boards are Mega 2560 compatible, but melzi is more a Sanguino clone and needs the sanguino definitions added. Try googling for this.

Recently Sanguino has been ported to use the Arduino Core. The Sanguino is now compilable and uploadable easily with Arduino IDE 1.0.4 or above using Optiboot loader. Atmega644p and Atmega1284p are now build and uploadable sketches on latest Arduino IDE. Blog with Details can be found on Bhashatech blog website

Nevermind, Optiboot is for the Melzi board lol. But which Sanguino file version from this

I'd try 

Sanguino-0101r1.zip

Added support for Arduino 1.0.1

But note that this was writen for Arduino IDE 1.0.1 not the current release!
