Extruder will only heat up manualy.

I just installed Repetier with the default settings on my Da Vinci 1.0 and I'm only having one problem.  The extruder will not heat up or display the set temp.  The bed heats up fine.  The display show the current temp and 0 for the extruder and it shows the current temp and the set temp for the bed.  I have reinstalled the software and it has had no change.  Does anyone know what could be causing this?
