5V Fan instead of 12V

Hi!

I have a small 25mm 5V Fan mounted, to cool the print. I tried to change the fan pin from the usual D9 to D4 / D1 or D57. The fan didn't run at all (but the fan is working).

Is it possible to use a 5v fan? And how do i deed to connect and configure it?

The normal outputs have 5V but only 10mA are allowed. Drawing more can damage the AVR so the pin doesn't work any more. I guess your fan needs more so you need some electronics to allow more then 10mA. Not sure how many mA the fan needs but also remember the 5V stabilizer needs still to provide stable 5V for temperature measurement etc and can only handle around 500mA in total including display.

ok good to know. What do you mean with "you Need some electronics"? or how exactly would you solve it?

Would it work with that on the d9 pin and the 5v fan?

What I mean is you need a transistor that can handle the mA to enable 5V if pin goes on high. Electronics is not my field so I can not be more specific here.
