What is the problem? I see gui.js:6038 Verifying 1 device, 8% at 83.10 MB/s (total 83.10 MB/s) eta in 35s with 0 failed devices and later "errors":[{"name":"Error","description":"SDHC Card","code":"EVALIDATION","device":"\\\\.\\PhysicalDrive1"}],"devices":{"failed":1,"successful":0},"bytesWritten":289406976,"sourceMetadata":
but don't see what the error is, just that it failed.
Have you tried just running the sd card anyway? If a unused command or data part is defect you won't notice.
Also try different sd reader on different usb cable. Sometimes it is the hardware connecting the sd card.
Also note the second partition i snot readable by windows - that is correct because it is ext4 formated which windows normally does not support.
Tried: Re-installed Etcher, new download of Repetier, used internal SD reader and USB adapter, used long format on cards and bought a new SD card! Same error (retrieved 2 old cards from garbage ) This is on a Thinkpad P52S with current Windows 10. Card boots and "seems" to work but leaves me with no confidence.
Aha!!!! I actually bought 3 new cards. The first I formatted and it failed, the second and third used as-is and verified fine. Is there something about the formatting or do I just write this off as a hardware glitch?
With so much cards failing I'm not that sure it is the card. Also there exist many cards that claim to have more flash than they do. You normally only see this when file grows, but now you write to first 4GB. Question might be how big are your sd cards? Everything 8GB onwards should work, 4GB might have problems if your 4GB has a few blocks less then our 4GB card. They store defect sections internally so cards can have different block count and you need one that has at least as many blocks as the original. But you should not use 4GB cards anyway - not enough free disk space. I see 16GB as minimum and prefer 32GB also anything from 4GB will work until disk is full, but that quick and you have not much flash for wear leveling so cards also die faster.

Sorry, earlier post was too long.

Cards format fine and write fine. Just fail on verify "Verification failed at sector 8192"
Since the Pi does boot I'm carrying on regardless!
Thanks
Got same problem today…tried 4 different SD Cars. 2 different versions of belana etcher and different easy to format so cards.
