Z-probe scanning

I'm making a z-probe for my scanner and it seems that it would be very easy to turn my printer into a scanner.

Is there a G-code that I can fire that will probe the Z-height and send back the result? If so, I could make a test software or maybe even implement it directly into repetier host.

That would be cool :P

    Hmm, I can't edit posts.... I'm making a z-probe for my PRINTER, not scanner.....

    Thats what G30 does. The host already has a tool to create a height map using this command (Tools->Height map) whcih uses the returned value to create the map.
