3d printer extruder is off will not turn on.

3d printer show that the extruder is off and can not get it to come on when using computer or usb. The usb operating, the extruder does not feed, but will run the the file.
Checked and step motor is working with tester. and the heater is to.
Using Laptop, would a desk top be better for this type of printer? 3d printer is a tronxy xc100 p

    under the 'manual' tab in repetier host, make sure the 'dry run' button is not sellected

    Thanks! will try this, has been a real pain to get working one thing after another. It's either been the printer or software.
