Extruder 1 and RAMPS 1.4 Issues

Im trying to setup a second extruder on my printer.

Im using the online configuration tool.

I know physically everything is ok as im converting from Marlin where the second extruder works flawlessly. When i turn up the heat on the extruder my blue communication light turns on on my ramps board and my heater never gets hot. I tried defining the pin directly, example Digital Pin 9, instead of "Heater 2 normally use for extruder 1".

Any suggestions?

    In RAMPS fan pin and extruder 1 heater pin are the same, so if you do not have disabled fan control (or moved fan pin to an other pin) the fan will disable heater.

    Thanks a million that did the trick. never even noticed that option. The second extruder heats up properly now however my blue communication light turns on until the initial heat up is done. should i be concerned about that?

    Sure it is the communication light and not the heater led? As long as nothing like errors happen don't be concerned.

    Yes, it appears to be the led on pin13.

    Led on pin 13 has nothing to do with communication. It can be used for temperature signaling, so this seems ok.
