Connect to printer with GPIO?

edited September 2017 in Repetier-Server
Is possible to connect Raspberry Pi with Repetier Server to printer via GPIO? Looking forward to upcoming Prusa MK3 with direct connection to Raspberry Pi Zero W using pins 1; 2; 4; 6; 8 and 13 (3v3; 5v; 5v; GND; GPIO14 and GPIO27).

Prusa printer have big marketshare ;) Octoprint already support this.

  • If pin 14/27 are serial connection pins, that should simply work by using the matching serial connection instead of usb-serial converter serial. Only drawback of this method is that it does not reset the printer on connect, but that is normally not a problem. And if it gets one just hit printer reset.
  • I'm interested in the progress you made on this topic? I'm attempting to use Rep-Server via the GPIO pin on a
    pi Zero. How'd you go?
