Serial Port Gone

I am running Repetier Host on a 2016 Mac-book Pro. The other day I plugged into my 3D Printer (a Printrbot Jr) and it wouldn't connect, I tried a few things but then noticed that under printer settings the port options went from Serial, Virtual, Bluetooth down to only Virtual, and Bluetooth. Any suggestions on to how to get it back? I considered deleting and reinstalling the program, but I don't want to loose all of my saved preferences and things like that. Any help would be appreciated.

    Reinstalling does not help with ports. In terminal you can easily list all /dev devices (ls /dev ) and see if the port is really there when host says they are not. Make sure no virtual machine has taken the port for it's use. Also make sure the board is not in bootloader mode.
