Unexpected pause "click to resume" , chesksum mismatch, ignore due to resend, and so on...

I guess all of the above is due to serial communication problems between the Raspberry Pi and the printer card. The question is: how to get rid of those errors, the most annoying being the "pause" ??? Is a shielded USB cable the best answer ? Some communications settings on the raspberry pi ? 
Am I the only one having theses kinds of problems ? How others solve this ?
