Does the webcam feature provide audio

I have been checking my audio settings on the Raspberry Pi (Repetier-Server image) and they look correct, showing the USB webcam as a source and the HDMI as the sink. But sound is not provided with the webcam stream. Is that by design? I was trying to debug a repeating relay tripping. The CNC machine is in the garage and my workstation is in my office on the floor above.

    mjpg_streamer and mjpg format we use can not handle audio, so that is not possible with this solution.
