Printrbot prints too high

I recently used my printrbot simple metal but when I tried the print the hot end was far off the plate. I know that there is a command to change z axis offset but I haven't been able to find any documentation. Any other ways of moving the hot end down would also be helpful. Thanks in advance.

    Normally this mean z endstop is not correctly calibrated. 

    Software solution is after
    G28 ; now Z=0
    G28 Z0.1 ; Assume z is 0.1 so next z position will be 0.1mm lower.

    Software solution is limited as you can depending on firmware setting not go below real 0. So correction is maximum layer height.
