Fan confusion - RAMBo

I have just set up the extruder fan (the one that keeps the filament tube cool) on a Rambo board. According to documentation FAN 0 is the one to use to cool the extruder and should be on pin 8 (for rambo?).
It seems to be acting more like the print cooler fan as it turns on when the fan is clicked on repetier host AND extruder is on, regardless of the temperature.
Please clarify about the different fans, pins and control firmware.

    Pins and names have the meaning you give them with your wiring. FAN 0 is normally used for print cooling so it is controlled by M106/M107. If you use same pin for 2 function strange things happen. Easiest way ist to simply set the digital pin for both so you do not depend on symbols.
