Thermistors Problems - Radds 1.5 - Delta printer

Hi to you all!

I have a Delta printer
with a Radds1.5 and version 0.92.8 of the firmware

I’m having trouble with
the thermistors. It always display Def on my LCD. Everything else seems to
works, (motor heating endstop…).

I didn’t touch the
default values in the pins.h file.

My connections are the
same as this picture : http://doku.radds.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/RADDS_Wiring.png

Thanks

  • Config is correct for T0 (outermost) so your thermistor is broken or you have it on the wrong thermistor pin connected. Measure resistance with multimeter /from connector side, should be around 100kohm) or connect it to the other pins. should be one of the outermost pins.
  • Thank for your time.

    What I have did so
    far:

    1 – Check my
thermistor they are around 128kohm – they work

    2 – Connect them to
other pins – All the same, didn't work

3 - Play with the pins numbers in the config.h file - try a lot of them didn't work

    4 – Check the wires –
    All ok

    5 – The thermistor pins
    on the Radds output 3.3v

6 – Use this code to
    check the connection: http://www.dr-henschke.de/RADDS_v12_test.zip
    - The T0 work randomly. Sometime it work but sometime when I restart the board it
    doesn’t work anymore.

    PS This morning I upload
the 0.92.8 FW and the T0 was working, until I restart it…

    Other information : I
    am on Arduino IDE 1.6.6

    I am starting to think
that it is my board, but if someone think about something please let me know.
Is it possible to gain access to the 0.92.6 version? Just for luck

    Thanks

  • Check solderings on the radds shield. Or test voltage. One pin must be 3.3 the other 0. If both have 3.3v the board has a defect I guess since we then would always measure 3.3v. From description it sounds like it gets a contact somewhere that makes it not work and sometime it is not there and it works.
  • Turn out it was my due (which I bought from reprap.me) that was in fault.

A big thanks to all Repetier Team great work!

  • Hello sorry for stealing this thread!
I've got the same problem! I've tried change pins in pins.h selected the right thermistor type and measured the thermistor via the contact...

    Everything seems to be fine?
I've checked the voltage between the ground pin and A0, A1, A2, A3, A4 pins on both arduino due and on the RADDS board itself? It shows 3.3v > GND

I can't manage to get it working? I'm running repetier 0.92.8 and only get def / 0c on the screen?

And a piezo screaming every 30 seconds.
Probably warning due to the broken "thermistor"

The only big change that I've made is that I've modded on another screen (reprapdiscount full graphic smart controller)

That's working fine with SD card reader working to?

    What's the problem?

I saw something about A0 pin channel 2 on the arm chip?
  • You know that the thermistor pins are not 0 and 3.3v but that there is a voltage divider with 4,7k between thermistor and A0-A4? So one side is always 3.3v and the other varies depending on resistance and that is what we measure.

With M105 X0 you get also the raw measured values also host might swallow output as unwanted.
  • Ok but how do I know what pin configuration I should use?

A0 is only connected to supply the thermisitor with 3,3v and the other pin is reading the resistance as you said? then it should be something wrong in the pins.h file? Wrong pin assignment?

the firmware is made in repetier configuration tool and set to RADDS in configuration.h?

so the pin assignment should match?

It feels like I've tried everything? I've spent the whole weekend trying to fix it..

And the thermistor type is set to 8
And it's the right thermistor I'm also 100% sure that it's not shorting or is defective in any way?

    It Measured 103k ohm
  • What does M105 X0 return?

You might use T1 instead in case the due pin is defect.
  • Nothing more then this.... :(

  • Host filters log so you see not everything. You need the hosts file log (must be enabled) where everything gets logged.
  • Bought a new Arduino due and the problem is fixed! :)
Bought my first one from reprap.me as "Couture619" did. The China knockoff they sell seems to be the problem, thanks!
  • edited March 2016
I bought the same "china-ware" on reprap.me. I've mixed feelings about moving forward, but I found this guide on reprap.org how to fix the issue:

    http://forums.reprap.org/read.php?13,569468,631394,page=6

Maybe it's also useful to you.
  • Hi,

I have the exact same problem as zuxztah where the LCD screen shows defective thermistor for the heated bed (Where the Extruder thermistor works fine) and also, i get the constant annoying beeping from the LCD buzzer.

When i connect the printer to Repetier Host, I get printer is paused error. The same problems keeps on occurring after i changed the 0.92.9 firmware a little here and there.

NB: The firmware in question is 0.92.9 from https://www.repetier.com/firmware/v092/ (The online configuration tool). The reason why i switched to this version from my original 0.91 is to use the slightly advanced features of probing as I have tried many probes on my delta and i am now testing an IR probe from Aus3D.

Please see that i don't have any, i mean any issues with my thermistors or hardware as when i load my old firmware 0.91 back onto the Arduino Mega, everything works just fine.

Could someone please help on this? I tried to copy as much of the same values from 0.91 to the new 0.92.9 including pin values, thermistor table value and more.... still no luck! :(

This is my firmware (0.92.9) which is giving problems:

If the firmware is in laser mode, it can control a laser output to cut or engrave materials.
Please use this feature only if you know about safety and required protection. Lasers are
dangerous and can hurt or make you blind!!!

The default laser driver only supports laser on and off. Here you control the eíntensity with
your feedrate. For exchangeable diode lasers this is normally enough. If you need more control
you can set the intensity in a range 0-255 with a custom extension to the driver. See driver.h
and comments on how to extend the functions non invasive with our event system.

If you have a laser - powder system you will like your E override. If moves contain a
increasing extruder position it will laser that move. With this trick you can
use existing fdm slicers to laser the output. Laser width is extrusion width.

Other tools may use M3 and M5 to enable/disable laser. Here G1/G2/G3 moves have laser enabled
and G0 moves have it disables.

In any case, laser only enables while moving. At the end of a move it gets
    automatically disabled.
