autolevel bed Zmax then Zmin

Hello,
after struggling for now 2 days, I'm looking for any help on this issue ...
I use Zmax as the homing.
when I run a autolevel bed in repetier, then Printer home to X=0, Y=0, Z=Zmax, then Z is going down and I have to switch off the printer before it reaches the bed.

  • You missed the most important information - what is about the down move and why did you disable printer. I mean do you send a G1 move or is it part of homing sequence.

    #define Z_MAX_LENGTH 80

    is your z height which it will go down when you send G1 Z0 but in eeprom you might have a bigger number. If that is more then real height it will try to go down through bed:-(
    Set this more conservative for first autoleveling attempt as it will go down to z probe distance for testing using last z length.
  • for info, I use 1.0.4 dev, although it says file optimized for 1.03...

    I switch on my cnc (this is why I disabled printer ;)  ), and from the menu (lcd display), I go to settings and do a "autolevel bed".
    as per the recommandation, I've reset the eeprom to clean out the data.

    my expectations : 
    as this is a CNC and the bed is not always at the same level (depending on the martyrdom put between the bed and the stock to cut), everytime I change this martyrdom, I want to rerun a new autolevel.
    I have a manual zprobe and move it to 3 different locations during the autolevel

    here the scenario I thought about and based on the last changed I made few minutes ago : 
    -I set #define Z_PROBE_START_SCRIPT "G28\nG30 P0 H0"

    - when I run a autolevel,
         - it first do homing (my G28 command),  BUT after doing a ZMAX, it goes down, WHY ???
         - then set a first point to setup a temporary Zorigin (H0 was needed although I already #define Z_PROBE_HEIGHT 19.2...)
         - then let the autolevel repetier running in my 3 defined points 
    #define Z_PROBE_X1 100
    #define Z_PROBE_Y1 100
    #define Z_PROBE_X2 560
    #define Z_PROBE_Y2 100

    except the big BUT above, it running fine. I still don't understand why if I run a G28, or G30 H0 (without the P0), Z goes to Zmax, then go down... even after reseting my eeprom.
    I also put 80 as max height, to have some margin, but can be 70 or 30 depending on the martyrdom (+ my zprobe is 19.2mm high)

    hope it clarifies a bit the situation.
  • for information, if I run G30 P0 H0 from repetier host on the CNC, Z is going to zmax, et does not going down automatically, which is what I expect...  
    so I suspect autolevel script to run additional commands in the Z_PROBE_START_SCRIPT

    if I do a G28, then a G30 P0 H0, it's perfect, I see the right zheight.
    if I add a S1 or S2 to G30, then it loops (homing xyz, then going to x100 y100, moving z, then homing xyz again, ...)
    if I do a G28, I loose the zheight and it comes back to 50 (it's not saved to eeprom :(  )

  • First, G28 is a homing command. It is very bad to have that in z probe start/finish script so please remove it. Also do not add a probing command G30 in start probing.  It voids any results from G30 which is either just measuring z height or adjusting Z if used with H - but this adjustment is removed with next homing. That is not what it is made for.
    - G30 P<0..3> - Single z-probe at current position P = 1 first measurement, P =
    2 Last measurement P = 0 or 3 first and last measurement
    - G30 H<height> R<offset> Make probe define new Z and z offset (R) at trigger

    So if you probe with G30 H30 P0 you say when probe is triggered, you are 30mm from bed away and Z at that height should be 0. You omitted R so value of H is assumed and you define the bottom. After that Z is adjusted. S1 or S2 do not do anything with G30, these are used in G32 to save height and autolevel. G30 does not compute rotation. It assumes same rotation as before or none if you never have stored a G32 result.

    So empty content of start/end script. To adjust height set z probe height 30 and run 
    G28
    G32 S2
    but G32 S2 will not wait which is problematic. Except you have the halfautomatic mode where you need to trigger once to start probing. So watch out.
  • Thanks a lot repetier !! I was overkilling the task...  
    so , I removed all the pre/post scripts and since I've changed the zheight-max to 40 (although it changes time to time), then the autolevel bed script works fine.
    I was expected to only do a first update on 1 point and update the zheight, but apparently this is not possible with g32... it goes through the 3points I defined. anyhow, this is not a big issue at the end.
    now, if I want to change the bed height, I reset the eeprom, and run again the autolevel bed. 

    last question : is there a way to go back to let say X100 Y100 when the autolevel script is completed ? actually, it stays at the last measure point.

  • With G30 Hxx you can do 1 point leveling and it will use rotation from last G32 which you stored to eeprom.

    G32 stops where it is finished. You can write a host script if you need it always at special position afterwards.
