lcd_rotate has no effect on my HDMI touch screen

Hi, I'm just desperate to rotate the display on my HDMI touch screen attached to a Pi 3b+. If I set lcd_rotate to 0 or 2 in /boot/config.txt and then reboot, nothing changes. The GUI displayed on the touch screen simply doesn't rotate. Is there anything else to consider besides this setting?

According to https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/display/troubleshooting.md that is the solution and for my 7" touchdisplays from pi foundation it surely works if using our image.

Google "raspberry lcd_rotate does not work hdmi" for possible solutions. I've seen it happened at least so maybe your problem is also covered in one of the answers.
