Is Repetier Server is an alternative to Repetier Host for MacOS ?

I understand the reasons why the mac version is behind the windows one.

But could Repetier Server be used in a standalone Mac, without the Host an offer the same basic functions regarding

sending manual commands to the printer, and stream G-Codes from Slicers output ?

If so you would have a much simpler and uniform UX on all platforms.

Yes, that is the idea behind the Server. It should replace in long term the hosts or at least offer a better alternative. At some point it will even get a slicer, but for now use a slicer of your choice and print using server. Since server uses much less resources it can easily run in background on a mac as on any pocket computer like raspberry pi. Plus it gives more freedom from where to control and where to run it.
