Need help uploading firmware

Let me start off by saying I am a beginner (and I mean it). I have a Melzi board and I am currently using Arduino v.1.5.5-r2 (because the repetier firmware I am using is a older version thats not compatible with the newer Arduino.ide). When I open up boards in Arduino.ide, I don't see an option for Melzi, is there any way I can connect to my board?

As far as I know you need to install extra board definitions for melzi to arduino ide, since it is not compatible with one of the provided boards. Most boards are Mega 2560 compatible, but melzi is more a Sanguino clone and needs the sanguino definitions added. Try googling for this.

I cannot find a Sanguino version that matches Arduino v.1.5.5-r2, can I use Optiboot^^^

Nevermind, Optiboot is for the Melzi board lol. But which Sanguino file version from this

I'd try

Sanguino-0101r1.zipAdded support for Arduino 1.0.1

But note that this was writen for Arduino IDE 1.0.1 not the current release!

Looks good. Might even work with latest ide but there were no notes, so you have to try.
