What are Loop Edges?

edited August 2014 in General

when placing a model and object analyser runs it returns Loop Edges: 122

Is this a problem?

  • A prefect object would be watertight, so no triangle has an edge without neighbour. Loop edges are exactly that - triangles with edges that no one shares. So it is a bit of a gamble what the slicer makes out of it and may also depend on the slicer used. Most of these open loop edges come from tiny holes and often they have no effect on the result. But in any case should you check the sliced result before starting to print as it can also cause unintended shapes in the sliced result. In that case run a repair tool over your object.
