Extruder motor not responding

Thanks for watching my question,

I got a little problem with the ''Extruder Motor''
the motor just won't respond when the 3d printer is printing. (Kossel K800XL)
I checked the motor and it worked if i switched the wire with a X or Y motor so its not defect.

I think that the problem indicates to the behaviors of the temperatures.
I read that the motor won't respond if the extruder don't pass the minimum temperature.
But the temperature matches correct with the repetier host software so i don't understand why it won't respond.

Do i need to change something physical with the controller board?
or
Do i need to change something inside the configuration.h/pins.h?

    i am almost sure that it has something to do something with the extruder temperatures
  • M302 S0    this will allow cold extrusion to test if it is a temp sense problem.

    Does the extruder get hot enough to melt filament ?
    Is the extruder motor turning the correct direction ? (sounds silly but i have been fooled by this myself).

  • I think I had a wrong description for that. 

    M302 S<0 or 1> - allow cold extrusion. Without S parameter it will allow. S1 will allow, S0 will disallow.

    so M302 S1 shoudl allow cold extrusion. Thanks for pointing me to this.

  • Ahh ty for clearing that up, on the reprap g code wiki  it states that M302 will just report cold extrusion state

    But even with the cold extrusion the motor ''still won't respond.''
    so i am thinking right now that it mabye got something to do with a physical connection.
    but everythings seems to be okey at the controller board
  • To test that you could swap X axis and E axis driver, so X uses E driver. In config tool this is easy to define. Then you see if the driver works as x axis. If not it is likely that something electronic wise is bad. You could also try second extruder driver instead.
  • I switched the extruder with the ''X axis'' and its working fine.
    The repetier host software says ''SelectExtruder0''
    i see in the EEPROM settings only a ''EXTR. 1'' option.
    I think that the repetier host software or firmware selected a different extuder channel
    (so extruder 0 instead of extruder 1) because the motor also didin't respond to ''cold extrusion''


  • Firmware counts extruders from 0 while hosts count from 1. SelectExruder0 means extruder 1 in host.
